Use of One to One Devices

At The Marist, we are committed to providing every child with the tools they need to thrive in an ever‑changing world. Our 1:1 iPad programme in key stage 2 is designed to enhance learning, increase accessibility and support high‑quality teaching.

Although iPads are introduced in KS2, our approach to teaching stays the same from KS1 through to KS2. The way teachers explain, model, question and guide learning does not change. The devices simply help to enhance what happens in the classroom; they do not replace teacher‑led instruction, practical activities or discussion.

The use of 1:1 devices allows teachers to provide real‑time feedback, tailor support more effectively and streamline classroom routines so that learning time is maximised. Devices are used purposefully and in short bursts throughout the day, with the same high expectations for presentation, focus and behaviour as in all other year groups.

Online safety remains our highest priority. All devices are closely monitored in real time by the class teacher and are protected through our Lightspeed filtering system, used across all Xavier CET schools.

To help families understand more about how devices are used, we have created a short presentation and a detailed FAQ document. We encourage all families to explore these resources to learn more about our approach and the benefits it brings for our pupils.
