English & Maths
For information regarding English and Maths please see the curriculum subject pages.
Oracy
This is a key focus in our school and is built into everything we do. Oracy is learning to talk and talking to learn. We seek to provide as many opportunities as possible for the children to speak aloud clearly and confidently. There will be paired discussion in every lesson and we will use a range of stem sentences to promote language development eg ‘I agree with … because.
We will also focus on the development and use of new and challenging vocabulary.
Homework
Homework is sent home every Thursday and is due back on a Tuesday. The children are expected to
- read daily & phonics practice
- practice their spelling rule
- one other additional homework (could be Maths, English, RE or any other foundation subject)
PE
PE will take place every Wednesday and every Thursday. Please ensure children wear their PE kit on their PE day. Plimsolls or plain black or white trainers can be worn for outside games. When the weather is cold, the children are allowed to wear school tracksuits. Please note that girls are not allowed to wear tights during PE lessons.
For information about any other subjects please see the knowledge organiser tabs at the side of this page.
