English & Maths
For information regarding English and Maths, please see the curriculum subject pages.
Oracy
This is a key focus in our school and is built into everything we do. Oracy is learning to talk and talking to learn. We seek to provide as many opportunities as possible for the children to speak aloud clearly and confidently. There will be paired discussion in every lesson and we will use a range of stem sentences to promote language development eg ‘I agree with … because.
We will also focus on the development and use of new and challenging vocabulary.
Homework
Homework is sent home every Thursday and is due back on a Tuesday. The children are expected to
- read daily
- practice their spelling rule
- Maths task
- reading or SPaG activity
- practice all timetable and division facts to 12 x 12
- RE once per half-term
PE
PE will take place every Tuesday and every Friday. Please ensure children wear their PE kit on their PE day. Plimsolls or plain black or white trainers can be worn for outside games. When the weather is cold, the children are allowed to wear school tracksuits. Please note that girls are not allowed to wear tights during PE lessons.
RSE in the Summer Term
In the summer term, our RSE will focus on Puberty and Adolescence. There will be a Parent Information Meeting for RSE in order to communicate what we will cover.
